* 2008 Standings Here is the lowdown on the 6th and final MACC race of 2008 on October 18th!
By Steve Oyer
It was another nice day and the rain around is gone………..the DA was +400ish at worst @ 60 degrees with lots-O-clouds. It stayed about the same all day with a few quick peaks of sun all day.
We had a year high 10 cars come to play; I thank all those that came out to support us! We had a new racer join us in a BB C3 and we had 2 guys and their pit crews come up from SC to play. Always great to have my buddies back, just makes the BS thicker and the racing closer. Dennis was kind enough to bring some barbecue up as well. It was good, and the 3 sandwiches I ate didn’t slow me down much….LOL.
The Race:
Jeter led the class once again during the two qualifying runs with a 9.7xs at 137+mph. Looking like no gimies in the 1st round! Dennis and I are verbally swinging at each other once again for the points win. We are tied going into today…..it does come down to him and me in the rounds!
In the first round:
Wilson takes out Carlton with a 12.40 on a 12.36 with a .15 light vs. a 13.49 on a 13.44 with an ..06 light. Carlton has to wait and see what I do now!
Oyer takes out Geer via a red light. Oyer runs a 12.26 on a 12.24 dial to a 11.29 on a 11.30 and gets 10 points on Carlton.
King takes out Debeasso with a 10.90 on a 10.85 with a ..06 light to a 13.19 on a 13.14 with Joe snoozing at the line.
Jeter takes out new racer Sebatini via the red eye with a 9.76 on a 9.78 with an .04 light to a 12.56 on a 12.65.
Melton gets the bye with a 13.22 on a 13.19
Carlton & Debeasso, buy back to have some more racing fun in the 2nd round. Randy is done for the day........broke motor and heads back home.
Quarter-Finals:
Wislon takes out Melton with an AWESOME r/t of .006 and a 12.45 on a 12.35 slowing down to preclude a breakout to a 13.35 on a 13.21 with a good .05 light.
Oyer takes out King via his uncharacteristic red light of .-025 running a 12.26 on a 12.26 with a .09 light to a 10.87 on a 10.87..........MAN that would have been close as He & I always seem to bring our A game when we race each other!
Carlton takes out Debeasso with a 13.44 on a 13.42 with an .12 light to a 13.05 on a 13.17 with a .21 light.............to quick Joe!
Jeter takes the bye with a 9.74 on a 9.76 with a -.016 light.
Semi-Finals:
Oyer takes out Carlton via a red light! This Gives me the Championship for 2009!
I run out the back door with a 12.26 on a 12.27 with an .06 light to a 13.46 on a 13.42 with a -.03 light.
Jeter advances with a 9.80 on a 9.74 with an .02 letting of the gas to Wilson's to quick 12.29 on a 12.32 and a .15 light.
Finals:
It all comes down to Jeter being closer to his dial & a better r/t………with a 9.75 on a 9.73 vs. my 12.248 on a 12.25 with an .11 light.......it made for a close call at the stripe……….

Ronnie Jeter Wins
Hey Ratpackers!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Congratulations to Ronnie Jeter’s 2nd MACC win for the year along with me for the runner up spot!
I want to congratulate Dennis Carlton for taking the 2008 Runner up spot and myself as the 2008 repeat champion. It was closer this year than last........like last day close!
I also want to thank our sponsors, The HP Factory & Carolina Auto Masters who will be back in 2009!
I also want to thank all 16 different racers that came to play this year, all the spectators and of course Johnny Davis of RDW. He is benchmark for all track owners to follow as being a very professional, consistent track owner that loves to have Vettes burn up his track!
Next race is scheduled for 2009!
