Here is the lowdown on the 4th MACC race on September 20th!

By Steve Oyer

The Race:
It was a nice cool day compared to the first three races this year! and no rain around………..the DA was +882 @ 72 degrees down to +242 once it got dark at 62 degrees.

We had a season high of 9 cars come to play; I thank all those that came out to support us! May have been just a little BSing in the pits.

Atkinson led the class during the two qualifying runs with a 9.8xs at 137+mph. One racer can’t stand the heat (or lack of traction) and has to leave………..lol, so it’s down to an even field of 8, no gimies in the 1st round!

In the first round:
Carlton takes out Theisen with a 13.36 on a 13.26 dial via a red light. The starter said the 10 second auto start got him…..looked shorter to me, but too bad for him. Oyer with a 12.50 on a 12.37 dial takes out Debeasso’s 13.23 on a 13.10 dial. The r/ts for both are near the same (nothing to write home about!) with Oyer letting off for the win as Joe slows down and can’t run the number. Robertson takes the win with a 10.62 on a 10.60 dial as Green redlights by less than 1/10th. Jeff did a good job for his first time racing, hope he wants to come back and play. Atkinson advances with a 9.87 on a 9.84 taking out Melton as he redlights away by about ½ of a 1/10th Theisen buys back to have some more racing fun in the 2nd round. As it turns out, that was $$ well spent!

2nd round:
Carlton takes out Oyer in a very close race with a 13.35 on a 13.31 dial with an .09 light vs. a 12.37 on a 12.37 with a .15 light…….ya snooze ya looze! Theisen takes out Robertson on the hole shot with a .07 light lifting big time to a 13.60 on a 12.78 dial vs. a .56 light and running a 1/10th quicker than the 10.60 dial. Atkinson gets the bye on a shake of the bottle and runs a 9.86 on a 9..84 and the best R/T & package of the night with an .02 light.

3rd round Semi-Finals:
In the Semis, Carlton was concerned running a deadly consistent car raced weekly…….but in the end it wasn’t even close! Both racers were nearly identical on the tree with Carlton’s .08 light to Atkinson’s .06…….At ½ track Atkinson has mechanical issues sounding like a rev limiter hit and runs a 10.81 on a 9.84. Carlton is dialed in and never looks back running a 13.34 on a 13.31. Theisen gets the bye due to having the best r/t in the last round. He runs a 12.60 on a 12.58………the final is shaping up to be a close one!

4th round Finals:
In the Finals, it all comes down to Carlton’s quicker reaction time with a .0472 to Theisen’s .0692. With both drivers off their dial by similar numbers Carlton’s 13.33 on a 13.31 vs. Theisen’s 12.60 on a 12.58 it made for a close call at the stripe……….
