* 2008 Standings Here is the lowdown on the 3rd MACC race on June 28th!
By Steve Oyer
Even though it was another steamy hot VA day, it was a day I worked with the track to get..........so real racers just roll with it!
It was a nice hot day and no rain around yet!………..the DA was:
- +2792 3:54 pm 95 degrees
- +2862 4:54 pm 96 degrees
- +2571 5:54 pm 91 degrees
- +2748 6:54 pm 94 degrees
- +2560 7:54pm 91 degrees
The Race:
With 4 cars, I led the class during our 2 run qualifiers with a 12.6 at 109+mph in the 1/4 mile. Brian just wants a 12 second run…….Dennis wants to run consistent today no matter the et…Joe………just wants to run…..and I just don’t want to break another C5!
In the first round:
Joe and Brian line up. Joe cuts his best light yet with a .086 to Brian’s uncharacteristic .51. Joe never gives up the advantage with a 13.37 on a 13.30 dial. Brian trying to catch him breaks out with a 12.88 on a 12.99 dial. Never seen him so happy a looser………….his best time yet in very hot weather!
Dennis and Steve line up. Both of us cut poor lights, mine is .05 better. I let off the gas for the win with a 12.68 on a 12.61 dial vs. Dennis running a 13.94 on a 13.88 dial.
2nd round:
Dennis wants to buy back……..Since Joe has the best RT of the 1st round, he gets the bye run…….Dennis said I am not loosing to Steve again!. So Dennis and I line up again. Dennis tree’s me with a .183 to my .316…….but he takes himself out running a 13.86 on a 13.93 dial while I run a 12.64 on my 12.61.
3rd round Finals:
Joe takes the win with a 13.46 on a 13.36 dial as I screw around trying for a perfect light……….oh so close with a -.004, oh well so I run it out the back door with a 12.61 on a 12.64. Joe’s 1st win and a good one at that.
