* 2008 Standings Here is the lowdown on the 1st MACC race on May 3rd!
By Steve Oyer
Even though it was Mothers’ day Weekend, we worked with the track to get 4 dates, and this Saturday afternoon event was one of them. It was a warm/humid day, but no rain around for a change!………..the DA was:
- +1999 2:54 pm 84 degrees
- +1933 3:54 pm 83 degrees
- +1828 4:54 pm 81 degrees
- +1719 5:54 pm 79 degrees
- +1554 6:54 pm 76 degrees
- +1428 7:54pm 74 degrees
- +1151 8:54pm 70 degrees
The Race:
With 7 cars, R. Jeter led the class during our 2 run qualifiers with a 9.8x at 130+mph. We let the track pick who got the bye........7 CARD Draw! Lucky Mr. Robertson picked the lone Ace!
In the first round:
On a double tree cut down it went to Claytor who was closer on his dial running a 10.14 on a 10..09 vs Carlton running uncharacteristically off his by 2/10th slower. S Jeter took the win against car #104 with him breaking out by 1/2 a 10th. Not bad for a 1st time drag racer!
R Jeter cut a .016 light on me to advance as I slept and spun to a 10th off my dial Robertson strolled down the track on his bye run. to a 10.4@137+ Carlton & I bought back to have some more racing fun in the 2nd round.
2nd round:
Card picks again! And its almost a repeat race of the 1st round......except S Jeter taking out Robertson on the hole shot with a .09 light vs a .53. Oyer took out R Jeter with a 12.42 on a 12.40 and a .06 light to a 9.91 on a 9.85 with an .03 light......it was dam close at the stripe and we had to look at the bulb to see who took it. Claytor ran a 10.16 on a 10.09 with both near a .07 tree....Carlton still off by a 1/10th slower on his dial cost him again!
3rd round Semi-finals:
Claytor raced S Jeter with another close race but a double break-out!......Claytor cut down the tree with a .0191 with a 10.088 on a 10.10 dial to a .066 with a 12.30 on a 12.32. Oyer get the comp bye with a better R/T in the last round by .0023!
4th round Finals:
Oyer squeaks out his 1st MACC win with a 12.3796 on a 12.37 dial with a .1013 vs Claytors 10.1159 on a 10.08 with a .0962 tree..... .0308 at the stripe!!!!!!
