Here is the lowdown on the 3rd MACC race on August 11th!

By Steve Oyer

It was another dry day and not to hot for a change! No rain in sight....means we got 2 qualifying runs in and running the full ¼ mile. The DA was the lowest yet….. +2000 to start and around +1300 at 9pm, about 86 degrees at 3pm and 74 degrees at 9pm...about a 1/10th quicker in the evening. Great to talk to some of our Maryland guys once again that made it out and the new drivers this time as well.

I was also able to award the "Clock" to Scott as he made it back up for this race………

I guess if he comes back on the 1st he gets to award it to Ernie…….. I never thought a .225 R/T would win that. Competition is getting tighter! The Race with 8 cars, Jerry once again with Low 10s led the class during our 2 qualifying runs. The red lights started early even in time trial……….an ominous sign of things to come for sure.

In the first round:

Hudson glides to an easy win WITH A TRAP SPEED OF 89 MPH due to Henry lighting the red bulb big time!

Gabe driving Brian's car breaks out with a 13.3669 on a 13.37 but……..McPeeks red lights with a -.0094 bulb to give the win away! Oyer wins on a break out over Wilson running a 11.18 on a 11.18 vs. his 12.69 on a 12.75……r/ts were near the same……..it was close at the stripe! And I think Bill was happy with that ET.

King takes the win on another close match, r/ts near the same with him running an 11.0143 on an 11.01 to Carlton's 13.8794 on a 13.86!

2nd round:

I was suppose to get the bye run……..but very unfortunate for McPeeks he didn't get back to the lanes soon enough and was turned away by the staging lane crew…….oh well, that's racin sometimes. Sorry it happed Jerry…..

Once again Gabe driving Brian's car cruises to an easy win as Hudson lights the big bad red bulb by over -.15 seconds giving the win away. Wilson chops the tree with a .0026 to take out King in a hole shot by 2/10ths. Wilson ran a 12.8591 on a 12.67 vs. King who is dialed in running a 11.0147 on a 10.99

Now you would think me watching all my fine outstanding, fierce, diehard, stoic, peer racing competitors red-light I would be paying attention…………….hell no, I want to chop the tree…….and I paid for it. Carlton takes the win even though he breaks out by running a 13.8324 on a 13.84 dial……………because I RED LIGHT to a -.0099 with an 11.20 on an 11.16 dial. At least I lost to the eventual winner……….that means something right?.................

Semi-Final round:

Wilson gets the bye due to his r/t and red-lights playing with the tree and has some shifting gremlins ………as they say……..he's in the money! Carlton takes the win with a .06 r/t and running a 13.8104 on a 13.81 dial to Gabe's………….yep, you guessed it……………..red-light of -.0156 Final round: It was Carlton's night to shine. He ran a 13.93 on a 13.80 with a .0415 tree! Wilson had a sluggish light of .1886 and was way of his dial due to the shifting issues come back again.
