* 2007 Standings Here is the lowdown on the 2nd MACC race on July 14th!
By Steve Oyer
It was another hot/humid day with no rain in sight....means we should have 2
qualifying runs and running the full ¼ mile. It was great for me to show up and
be the #6 car!
The DA was no better than +1700, about 90 degrees at 3pm and 80 degrees at
9pm...about a 1/10th quicker in the evening. Great to talk to some of our
Maryland guys that made it out and of coarse the one "Chief" that had been
trying to make it more than a few times.
The Race
With 11 cars, Roger Claytor led the class during our 2 qualifying runs with a
9.XX at 137+mph. The fine track officials I love dearly...:) pull "the can of
numbers" out to see who gets the bye run..... Stelly gets it in the 1st round.
In the first round:
Hudson squeaks out a very close one over Carlton due to a break out with a
12.272 on a 12.27 vs a 13.779 on a 13.78!
Oyer wins on a red light running a 11.26 on a 11.25 vs a .005 red bulb!for
Terry.
King is on his dial and r/t running a 11.14 on a 11.10 with an 06 vs Howard who
was uncharacteristically off his dial and R/T by over a 1/10th on both.
Boone wins by treeing his next door neighbor Davis with a .02 to a .22
Claytor wins on a lift to make sure he doesn't run under over Lupows' slower R/T
and time off his dial.
Stelly makes a clean pass under his dial on the bye
2nd round:
Stelly trees Hudson and lifts to make sure of the win with a 11.57 on a 11.19
with a .01 vs a 12.37 on a 12.23 with a .33(winning the Chief Dave Award!!!)
Oyer wins on a double break out over King 11.24 on a 11.28 vs 11.02 on a
11.10....neither was willing to lift!
Claytor runs closer to his number than Terry on a close race! R/Ts were near the
same with a 10.08 on a 10.03 vs a 11.82 on a 11.75
Lupow wins on a double red light over Boone with a closer to green R/T of a
.0046!
Semi-Final round:
Claytor took out Lupow with the best package of the night with a .0407! Chief
Dave was no slouch either ...his was a .0519! Must have been close at the
stripe.
Oyer took out Stelly in a pedal race at the end....R/Ts were both .04X so the
lift/gas game was on and I eaked this one out......damn close!
Final round:
It was Claytor's night to shine. He ran a 10.0445 on a 10.04 with a .0386 tree!
Oyer had a sluggish .08 light and ran out the back door with a 11.21 on a 11.25
dial...returning the favor Claytor gave me in the last race.LOL
At the strip, Claytor won by less than 1/10th of a 10th, or extrapolated
out...by less than 9 inches!!!
